Today, it rains purple.
I went online to search for an Obituary for a writing prompt exercise. I never imagined to come across Princes’ Obituary, the kind of generic notice that says nothing of significance. The man, the musician, who literally made his name a symbol, died today. I was shocked. I still am.
Whatever his official legacy, I will remember Prince for being someone who followed his own vision as an artist. He never seemed to follow the status quo. He always came across as a genuine human being. He stood up for the things he cared about. He worked relentlessly on his art and shared his work with others.
I don’t think you can say goodbye to someone as iconic as Prince was in his lifetime.
You remember cause you simply can’t forget.
